It’s been a bit since I’ve posted an update. I’ve been working on improving the pistons, and it hasn’t gone very smooth. I think I have it almost nailed down, and spent some time getting new art in the game for them as well, as I didn’t like the previous one.
I’m still testing the fixes, and should have the new patch updated soon.
Here’s a peek at the new piston.
Looks like my hosting company is having a bit of an issue. The server should hopefully be back online shortly.
Still plugging away.. Progress has been a bit slow the last few weeks, but I’m getting there. I’m working on reworking the Piston a bit in addition to fixing it. I feel like it is close to being nailed down, but I still have some testing to do. I should have this patch out in a few days.
Also, I still plan on releasing the native Linux client, but that is going to be a bit further out. Getting the updater to work on Linux doesn’t seem like it will be quick, so I need to re-evaluate the timing for the release. I apologize for those that are waiting for it, but I need to prioritize the editor over the Linux port.
Well, back I go…
So last week I was at the Game Developer Conference, and I am just now recovering. It was nice getting away from the desk, and connecting with my game industry friends. I got to see some pretty cool stuff, most notable was the new Epic Demo running in real time….
Pretty amazing!
Anyhow, a quick update on the plans for Crashtastic. First up, is fixing a few issues. I just fixed an issue with the rotators breaking off too easily when multiple rotators are used. Next up is fixing the quirkiness on the pistons. The 0.4.8 patch was pretty brutal on me to get out the door, and unfortunately, I introduced more bugs then I fixed. Sorry about that! I’ll be review the userecho as well to make sure I am nailing down bugs, so please post issues there:
Up next is updating the level editor and enabling level sharing, which means you won’t have to wait for me to create new content! I am super excited about the potential of what this will do for the game.
Linux support is coming soon as well!
Well, back to work….
Mark

Hi Everyone! Just a quick note, if you haven’t voted for Crashtastic on Steam’s Greenlight, I would really appreciate it if you would. Getting Crashtastic on Steam has been a dream of mine since I started this project, and I am closing in on it, but I still need your help.
If you like Crashtastic and would like to suppor the effort, please go here and click “Yes”.
